Our story

WE believe a great commitment to the great commission and great commandments will grow a great church!

In 1954, The Evangelistic Committee of First Baptist Columbus purchased property on Airline Road for a Baptist Church in East Columbus. On November 4, thirteen people met to pray for this new church plant.
In 1955, Plans for a new worship facility begin. Construction began in May 1955, and the first prayer service was held on August 3, 1955, at Fairview Baptist Chapel.
In 1957, In September, Fairview Baptist Church was born with Rev. Luther Litchfield as Pastor. He served faithfully until 1975.
In 1964, The second Sanctuary was built (present Activities Building), and in three years, additional education space was needed.
In 1976, Dr. Gene Henderson served faithfully as Pastor at Fairview until 1984.
In 1982, The third Sanctuary was built (present Fellowship Hall) after the acquisition of eight acres across the street. The day to occupy the third Sanctuary was called “Cross-Over Sunday.”
In 1984, Rev. Mickey Dalrymple began his ministry as Pastor at Fairview and served faithfully for twenty-six years.
In 2003, The fourth Sanctuary is completed and dedicated.
In 2007, A state-of-the-art Student Ministry Building is completed where the first Sanctuary was previously located.
In 2012, Dr. Breck Ladd began his ministry as Pastor at Fairview and served faithfully for eleven years.
Present Day, “We believe a GREAT COMMITMENT to the GREAT COMMISSION and GREAT COMMANDMENTS will grow a GREAT CHURCH!”
